The Catholic Institute of Sydney, Australia’s ecclesiastical faculty for theology and ministry, is one of Australia’s oldest tertiary institutions. Providing academic study as part of formation for priestly and religious life, the Institute also provides opportunities for students who are engaged in Church ministry and those seeking to deepen their faith through study.
The Catholic Institute of Sydney is now seeking an exceptional leader with the experience and insight to lead the Institute through the rapidly changing tertiary landscape as its next President. Appointed by the Chancellor, the Archbishop of Sydney, and accountable to the Senate of the Institute, the President of the Catholic Institute of Sydney is the Institute’s chief academic and administrative officer and is instrumental in fostering unity and encouraging teaching and research excellence.
The new President will engage widely with both internal and external stakeholders across the Catholic Institute of Sydney and the broader Church community. Leadership will be an important aspect of the role; coaching and developing researchers, teaching staff, and students, as they continue their lifelong learning journeys.
The ideal candidate for this senior leadership position will be an outstanding administrator and academic leader with gravitas and a personal reputation beyond reproach. Candidates will have a strong commitment to the Catholic faith and a genuine affinity with the Catholic intellectual tradition and will exhibit a good fit with the culture and purpose of the Catholic Institute of Sydney and will be well aligned with the strategic vision of the Archdiocese of Sydney.
