Kathy Ewing has written on topics including education, books, women's issues, and dogs, for such publications as Belt, The Bark, Brevity, America, The Millions and others. She teaches Latin at Cleveland State University and has taught writing at Case Western Reserve University. Her memoir, Missing: Coming to Terms with a Borderline Mother (Red Giant Books), appeared in 2016, and her new book Lead Me, Guide Me: The Life and Example of Father Dan Begin will be published in 2020 by Shanti Arts.
Commentary: At our parish, as at most, women are busy getting things done. Yet Catholic women cannot serve as ordained ministers, as either deacons or priests. History teaches us that this was not always the case.
