At its first meeting in June, the recently formed Association of U.S. Catholic Priests adopted, among other items on the agenda, a resolution to support the Leadership Conference of Women Religious. The 240 priests who attended the meeting did not address the controversy surrounding the Vatican’s investigation of the LCWR, according to the association’s press release.
Here’s their statement about the LCWR:
The members of the AUSCP also “wholeheartedly support the work of the Catholic Theological Society of America, including sisters Margaret Farley and Elizabeth Johnson, in their efforts to promote theological dialogue and the development of doctrine within the Catholic church.” Sisters Farley and Johnson have both served in leadership positions at the CTSA.
The group was formed last year and has more than 700 members. The resolutions adopted at the meeting are here.
