A reporter just asked for my thoughts about the Supreme Court's decision to require that the diocese of Bridgeport release documents relating to its previous efforts to cover up cases of clergy sex abuse. I directed them to an article I wrote in The New Republic back in 2002 about the clergy sex abuse crisis and, in all humility, it still reads pretty well all these years later and, sadly, the issues Boston was facing then are the same issues Bridgeport is facing today. The issue has long since stopped being merely about clergy sex abuse. It is about the malfeasance of our bishops. You can read the article here.
